ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) –A 26-acre Haw Creek property, including five homes, wooded and open areas, a barn, a workshop and other buildings, has been purchased by a family-owned LLC for renovation and thoughtful development.

The 767 New Haw Creek Road property was acquired by Alair Asheville | Red Tree. Its renovation will be overseen by Alair president Brandon Bryant, who sees the project as an opportunity to build something “special” in the Haw Creek community.

“We know we have something special here, and we only get one chance to do this right,” Bryant said. “Our goal is not to erase what has been here. It’s to understand the history of this property, respect the people who have shaped it and thoughtfully determine what its next chapter can be.”

The Haw Creek acreage was previously family-owned land before it became a gathering place for the Asheville music community. Bryant and his family plan to restore the property as housing, first and foremost, and potentially a wellness-oriented outdoor space down the line.

“Potential ideas include walking connections, restoration of portions of the property’s wetlands and stream areas, pollinator and community gardens and shared spaces that encourage connection to nature and one another,” Alair wrote in a release.

Evaluation work with civil engineers and landscape professionals is in early stages now.

“We’re evaluating possibilities, but we’re being very intentional about that process,” Bryant said. “We want to understand the land first – its ecology, its history and its relationship to the surrounding neighborhood.”

Part of that understanding will be connecting with the former residents and artists who called 767 New Haw Creek Road home.

“We’ve heard stories about what this place meant to the people who lived and created here,” Bryant said. “That matters to us. We want to listen, learn and find a way to honor the people, music and creativity that are part of this property’s story.”

More information about Alair’s plans for the property will be released in the future.

“We have a mission to have a positive, sustainable impact on the community,” Bryant said. “For us, this property is an opportunity to put that mission into practice.”
