Alleged 19-year-old fraud mastermind slammed with 25 more charges

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Masieuh Dewayne Morgan, 19, has been arrested on 25 charges of fraud, including conspiracy and assault on a female, following 25 other counts earlier this year.

A detailed Asheville Police Department investigation identified Morgan as the alleged leader behind a network of fraud spanning Western North Carolina after the crimes were uncovered last summer.

Morgan was arrested on March 2, 2026, and charged with:

  • Five counts of Felony Conspiracy
  • Six counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense
  • Six counts of Accessing Computers
  • Four counts of Uttering Forged Paper or Instrument Containing a Forged Endorsement
  • One count of Financial Transaction Card Fraud
  • One count of Forgery of Notes, Checks and Other Securities, Counterfeiting of Instruments
  • One count of Larceny by Employee
  • One count of Assault on a FemaleĀ 

Morgan was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $266,000 secured bond issued by a magistrate.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the case.
