APD seeking help identifying masked machete robber

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Police Department detectives are seeking assistance from the public in identifying an armed robber who threatened an employee with a machete during a convenience store robbery Monday morning.

Robber described as masked man with machete

Around 10:42 a.m., Monday, Sept. 15, APD officers responded to a convenience store on the 200 block of State Street to investigate a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, a store employee told officers that a man wearing a face covering and his hood up entered the store three times, on the third time brandishing a machete. The robber went behind the store counter, raised the weapon, then grabbed a bag with $2,600 in cash and fled the scene on foot.

The man is described as a white male, approximately 5 foot seven inches to 5 foot 8 inches tall, with blonde curly hair – possibly a wig – who was wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans and blue Nike sneakers. He was also wearing a white and grey face covering.
