Brush fire reported near Rumbling Bald in Lake Lure

LAKE LURE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Fire crews are responding to a brush fire near Rumbling Bald in Lake Lure, officials said Thursday afternoon.

The fire, reported at 3:34 p.m. by the North Carolina Forest Service, is located between Cattail Road and Kings Drive. Several fire stations and emergency personnel are on the scene.

Rumbling Bald officials said the fire is not on property owned by the association, but responders are accessing the area through the community. Residents and visitors were urged to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely.

Witnesses reported a large volume of smoke, suggesting a significant brush or uncontrolled burning. Rumbling Bald Security said there was no immediate information on the cause or exact source of the fire.
