ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating after an officer from the Buncombe County Detention Facility was killed in a crash Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said Officer Emmanuel Joseph Bader and another detention center officer were involved in a crash on New Stock Road just after midnight.

The other officer was taken to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the families of our officers,” the news release said.

The sheriff’s office said the crash is under investigation by North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
