Expect delays: I-26 East lanes closing overnight Tuesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Drivers traveling through Buncombe County should prepare for an overnight closure on Interstate 26 eastbound Tuesday night.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, all eastbound lanes of I-26 near mile marker 33 will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, for construction work.

The closure is scheduled to remain in place until 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 24.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow posted detour signs and use caution in the work zone. Delays are possible during the overnight hours as crews complete the project.

No additional details about the construction work were immediately available.
