FAIRVIEW, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Fairview gets festive for the holiday season this weekend with the Fairview Christmas Parade and 25th Anniversary Barn Warmer at Hickory Nut Gap Farm. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 in the heart of Fairview before the Hickory Nut Gap afterparty from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Fairview parade will begin at TE Connectivity, 1396 Charlotte Hwy., and end at Angelo’s Family Restaurant, 1226 Charlotte Hwy. in a route just under a mile long. Local businesses, community groups and Fairview neighbors will march in the parade, dishing out candy and holiday cheer to all.

The Hickory Nut Gap Barn Warmer, meanwhile, commemorates 25 years of the local farm with music, animals and appearances from Santa Claus.

“We’re celebrating 25 years of farming, learning, and building community through agriculture — and we want to celebrate with you!” Hickory Nut Gap wrote on their website.

The free event will be held at the farm, 57 Sugar Hollow Road, and will feature:

  • An opportunity for kids to meet Santa
  • Hickory Nut Gap’s Farmer Graham playing holiday tunes on piano
  • Hot cider, food and a bonfire
  • Singing to animals in the pasture

Hickory Nut Gap will also collect canned good donations for Western Carolina Rescue Mission at the event.

“Bring a can if you can,” the farm suggested.
