“These funds will be directed toward critical water system projects that will help protect the city’s watershed and strengthen long-term community resilience,” wrote the city in the release.

“On behalf of the City of Asheville, I want to thank the Department of Homeland Security for approving critical funds to support our community’s recovery from Tropical Storm Helene. These resources will not only help us rebuild but will also strengthen resilience in our water system and our watershed for the future. We are deeply grateful to our partners at FEMA, as well as Senators Ted Budd and Thom Tillis and Congressman Chuck Edwards, for their continued advocacy and support of Asheville,” said Asheville Mayor Esther Manheimer.
