ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Downtown Association will bring the Fourth of July to the South Slope for their Independence Day Block Party.

The family-friendly festivities will run from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday, July 4 in the South Slope district, spanning Coxe Avenue, Banks Avenue and Buxton Avenue for the pedestrian-only event.

The event will include a local maker marketplace, food trucks, craft beverage vendors and specials inside South Slope businesses.

On the Asheville Yards stage, there will be live music throughout the evening:

  • 5 p.m. – 100th Army
  • 7 p.m. – Mission Accomplished

Official host venues Asheville Yards, Bear’s BBQ, Burial Beer Co. and Chemist Spirits will offer on-site programming throughout the day. Visitors are encouraged to explore the whole district to discover all the pop-ups, tastings and live entertainment available prior to the block party.

The evening will rocket to an end with Asheville’s signature fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

“Last year’s South Slope celebration drew more than 13,000 attendees and delivered some of the best sales days our small businesses have ever recorded,” said Hayden Plemmons, Executive Director of the ADA, in a press release. “We’re proud to partner with the city and Ingles to build on that success and highlight the vibrancy of this growing district.”
