ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Just over one year after opening, Coffee, Art, Music type Place, a coffee shop and arts nonprofit located off of Tunnel Road, has announced that it will shut its doors at the end of May.

C.A.M.P. closing

Coffee, Art, Music type Place, better known as C.A.M.P., opened to the public on April 26, 2025. The nonprofit was founded by Danna Leon as space for young artists to display, sell and create their work. Over 30 artists ages 16-26 sell their work at C.A.M.P. free-of-charge: Leon does not ask for rent for artists’ three month leases and only collects 30% commission on sold items.

However, in a Facebook post earlier today, Tuesday, April 28, the nonprofit announced some “BIG news”: C.A.M.P. will close “PERMANENTLY” the last week of May.

The nonprofit, which hosts regular arts events like open mic nights, still has a few things left on its calendar, including:

  1. Open mic night Friday, May 1
  2. Beginner Earring Class Saturday, May 9
  3. Blues Dance Saturday, May 16
  4. Wednesday night DJ dances

According to the Facebook post, there will be “deals like crazy” as C.A.M.P. prepares to close. The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Saturday, 1 Kenilworth Knolls.
