Man charged after being seen driving dead man’s vehicle

MARION, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A 48-year-old man has been charged with felonious larceny and felonious breaking or entering of a motor vehicle after reports he was operating the vehicle of a man who was found dead last week.

Scotty Styles was arrested April 24 by McDowell County Sheriff’s Office deputies and U.S. Marshals after officers with the Black Mountain Police Department provided information that Styles was operating DeAndre “Desmond” Clark’s vehicle on April 23 in Black Mountain.

Clark’s body was found by McDowell County sheriff’s deputies earlier that day behind an abandoned business on Batcave Road.

Clark, 22, was reported missing by his mother on April 19 after last being seen by her around 3 p.m. April 18 at the Hillcrest Apartments in Asheville, Asheville Police reported.

Clark’s death is still under investigation, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
