Man found dead along New Leicester Highway identified

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Authorities have identified a man found dead along New Leicester Highway in Buncombe County, and investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine whether severe weather played a role in his death.

Patrol deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office found 31-year-old Rubilio Mendez Reynoso deceased on the side of the road near the 400 block of New Leicester Highway just after 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, officials said.

Reynoso’s family has been notified. Detectives are waiting on findings from the Office of the State Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death, including whether it may be weather-related.

The investigation remains ongoing.
