Missing person: APD seeks help locating Gerald Bethel Colwell

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department is asking for help locating Gerald Bethel Colwell, 60, who was reported missing on March 18, 2026.

Colwell was last seen on Patton Avenue on March 10 and last communicated with on March 9. He is described as a 60-year-old white male, 5-foot-7, around 145 pounds, with gray hair, blue eyes and a mustache. He has a wolf print and shield tattoo on his right calf.

Colwell is developmentally delayed and known to frequent west Asheville at a South Bear Creek Road residence. He drives a gray-white Volkswagen Golf.
