71-year-old dead after U.S. 70 incident, BCSO says investigation still in progress

SWANNANOA, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances around the death of 71-year-old Saeid Mohammad Khoshnoud, who was found with serious wounds along U.S. Highway 70 earlier this week.

BCSO said that Khoshnoud was discovered around 11 p.m., Monday, June 8, after receiving a report of a pedestrian involved in a motor vehicle crash.

According to a press release from BCSO, “the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, along with Swannanoa Fire, Buncombe EMS, and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded to what was reported as a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian” at 1916 U.S. 70 in Swannanoa, where they discovered a man, Khoshnoud, “lying in the roadway with serious injuries.”

Khoshnoud was transported to Mission Hospital, where he later died.
