HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is alerting drivers to upcoming nighttime closures on Interstate 26 because of construction.

Westbound lanes between Exit 49 and Exit 44 will be fully closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 23-25. Officials caution that start times may vary depending on traffic, and weather could affect the schedule.

Motorists are advised to use the following detour: at Exit 49B, take U.S. 64 West to Asheville Highway (U.S. 25 North) and continue to Exit 44.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead, exercise caution, and allow extra travel time through the area.
