ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Saturday walk-in service hours return to the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles this weekend.

This year, the division is expanding from 16 to 20 offices offering Saturday services from 8 a.m. to noon on 11 Saturdays between May 31 and Aug. 23. Offices will be closed on June 28 and July 5.

The four new Saturday service locations are Elizabeth City, Clayton, Durham East and Kernersville. One additional change this season is that the Raleigh East office will be open on Saturdays instead of the Raleigh North office.

Last summer, nearly 17,000 customers were served at 16 offices over 12 Saturdays.

Walk-in services will be provided at the following driver’s license offices (no appointment necessary):

  • Greensboro, 2391 Coliseum Blvd.
  • Greenville, 4651 N. Creek Drive
  • Huntersville, 12101 Mount Holly-Huntersville Road
  • Jacksonville, 299 Wilmington Hwy.
  • Kernersville, 810-A N. Main St.
  • Monroe, 3122 U.S. Hwy. 74 W.
  • Raleigh East, 4121 New Bern Ave. (Wilder’s Grove)
  • Raleigh West, 3231 Avent Ferry Road

Services offered during the Saturday hours include driver’s license or ID cards, renewals or duplicate orders, address changes, REAL ID issuances and road tests for customers who have already completed the knowledge and written tests.

Anyone planning a visit to the DMV should first check to see if they can complete their business online. NCDMV offers many online services, including driver’s license and ID card renewals, ordering duplicate licenses and ID cards, address changes and voter registration applications.
