ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The weather system that prompted several advisories in the Asheville area also brought changes to the beginning of the school week.

Henderson County Public Schools officials said black ice and hazardous early morning travel conditions had been reported on several local roadways, leading to a two-hour delay for schools Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.

Below is a list of closings and delays:

Henderson County Public School Child Care: Open at 7:30 a.m.
Henderson County Public Schools: Two-hour delay, no buses on icy roads
Heritage Hall International School: Two-hour delay
Lees-McRae College: Open at 10 a.m.
Madison County Schools: Closed/optional teacher work day
Mayland Community College: Closed
McDowell Technical Community College: Two-hour delay
Mitchell County Schools: Closed/teacher work day
Yancey County Schools: Closed/optional teacher work day
