ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Buncombe County deputies are returning to the Candler area Wednesday for another search for a 68-year-old man who has been missing since Sept. 4.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said crews are searching in the Milksick Cove Road area for Edward Malloy, who was last seen leaving his home and walking into nearby woods.

A Silver Alert was issued for Malloy on Sept. 4. The Sheriff’s Office said he has cognitive issues and physical limitations.

Two previous searches for Malloy were unsuccessful, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Wednesday’s operation is expected to bring a large law enforcement and emergency services presence to the area. Search crews are using UTVs, drones and K-9 teams.

The Sheriff’s Office did not say whether new information prompted Wednesday’s search.

Anyone with information about Malloy’s whereabouts is asked to call the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office at 828-250-6670.
