ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — In the spirit of love on Valentine’s Day weekend, Root Cause Farm, a local food-centric nonprofit, will host a fundraiser event featuring live music, craft cocktails and more.

The “Share the Love” fundraiser will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13 at Cultivated Cocktails Tavern, 161 Charlotte Hwy A.

Love for community is the root of Root Cause

Root Cause is a community hub for organic food. Every year, the farm grows and distributes thousands of pounds of farm fresh fruits and vegetables to local families entirely free of charge. In 2025, Root Cause fed 120 families every week.

The Share the Love fundraiser will spotlight “not only the farm’s dedication to nourishing families, but also its commitment to educating the next generation of farmers, nutrition advocates and community leaders,” the farm wrote in a press release.

The event will feature live music from Asheville musicians Nikki Talley and Jason Sharp and spirits crafted by host venue Cultivated Cocktails.

Cultivated Cocktails will donate 10% of proceeds from the event to Root Cause. Guests will also have an opportunity to support the nonprofit through the “Fund a Foot” initiative, a sponsorship program for garden beds at the farm.

“Our work feeds more than bodies — it nourishes hope, knowledge and the roots of a stronger, more resilient food system here at home,” said Root Cause Executive Director Nicole Coston in the release. “Share the Love is a celebration of what’s possible when our community comes together.”
