ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon temporarily snarled traffic on New Leicester Highway in Asheville, where several vehicles collided and one bashed into the storefront of the Mine & Yours resale shop, causing cracks in the stone work.

Injuries were reported, an Asheville Police Department spokesperson said, but he did not say how many people were hurt.

Lori Dawson, who owns the resale shop, said two people were transported to the hospital.

The crash, which happened about 3:15 p.m. involved at least three vehicles. An officer who was at the scene interviewing witnesses shortly after 4 p.m. referred all questions to APD’s public relations officer.

Clothing, glass and vehicle debris littered the parking lot as people gathered to watch officers clear the scene.

Sage Oliver was inside the store at the counter when the crash happened.

“I saw it, like in the corner of my eye,” she said while talking with others in the store about what had happened only minutes before.

“The car came across the highway and hit the wall,” said Saylor Strickland, who was also at the counter when the crash happened. “We were all standing right here.”

Dawson said the store would have to be closed until the extent of the structural damage was assessed.
