ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A section of Tunnel Road near Huntington Road, close to Bell Elementary School, was closed Thursday morning following a motor vehicle crash that brought down a utility pole, police said.
The Asheville Police Department said the collision occurred earlier in the day, prompting the closure of the roadway. North Carolina Department of Transportation crews and Duke Energy responded to address the damaged infrastructure.
Traffic is being rerouted onto Swannanoa River Road, and authorities expect the closure to last until around noon. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
