ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Tunnel Road was closed Wednesday morning after a crash snapped a utility pole near Beverly Road, causing major traffic issues.

Asheville police were on scene diverting traffic around the area, while Duke Energy crews worked to address the damaged power pole.

The Duke Energy outage map showed an outage that started about 7:20 a.m., affecting about 219 customers. The estimated repair time is 11 a.m.

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation traffic map, congestion stretched along Tunnel Road from Governor’s View Road to Lynnstone Court around 7:30 a.m. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
