Weaverville police investigate bomb threat reported at HomeTrust Bank

WEAVERVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Weaverville police are investigating a reported bomb threat at HomeTrust Bank on Northridge Commons Parkway after officers searched the property and found no threat.

According to a Weaverville Police Department Facebook post, officers responded to the bank after receiving a report of a bomb threat. Police said officers took all necessary safety measures to protect the public while conducting a thorough search of the premises. No threat was found.

The department said it takes all threats to public safety seriously and recognizes the distressing impact the incident had on bank employees and area residents.

A thorough investigation is underway to identify and hold the responsible party accountable, according to police.
