ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Thousands of students in the Asheville area will stay home Monday after Winter Storm Fern brought dangerous ice and freezing rain, prompting widespread school closures across Western North Carolina.

Asheville City Schools: Closed/optional workday
Avery County Schools: Closed
Blue Ridge Community College: Closed
Buncombe County Schools: Closed
Carolina Day School: Closed
Evergreen Community Charter School: Remote learning day
Francine Delany New School for Children: Closed
Graham County Schools: Closed/teacher workday
Haywood Community College: Canceled/campus closed
Haywood County Schools: Closed
